Why do Catholics and Protestants not get along well ususally? (As in Belfast,Capital of Northern Ireland,now )?

The fighting between Catholics & Protestants in Northern Ireland is more political than it is religious. You see, the Catholics want Norther Ireland to reunite with the rest of Ireland, whereas the Protestants want it to remain part of the United Kingdom.
