Labradoodle as a Grouse Dog?

Hi, my parents just bought a labradoodle and I was wondering if it would be possible to train it as a flusher and retriever for grouse and woodcock in Maine I will be hunting apple orchards in Aroostook County, Up near Rangeley and in Dover Foxcroft. The reason for buying that type of dog is that my mom is allergic to other dogs.
