Why is christianity so confusing?

I am a Proud Christian but why is it that people say that if your do this and that you will go to hell and at the same time people say that if you accept Jesus that you will go to Heaven no matter what , if GOD know salready what where gonna pick to do in life why dosent fish help change our minds to become Christian? And why Re all the christians split into different types like Catholic And Protestant
